5 Gift Ideas for Your Garden

With the change in the weather a number of us are sitting out enjoying the sunshine. As we get to spend more time in the garden we appreciate the beauty of the plants and flowers growing around us. They make the perfect gift when visiting, as you do not have to worry about if they recipient will have a place for your gift or what their particular design tastes are. Plants are very versatile and you will always find the perfect spot for them. I have a few plant gift ideas that are popular here in Balbriggan. I hope you like them.

  • Rose Tree: This striking plant proves very popular, particularly in a cottage garden. It produces a number of flowers with a pretty scent. It is available in a wide variety of colours. It is also a great plant for taking a few blooms and popping into a vase inside. Why not enjoy it everywhere you go.

  • Lavender Pot: This has a scent that cannot be beaten. Beautiful lavender shades. This is a great plant as it produces lots of little flowers. These flowers can be dried and added to your pot pourri. A beautiful plant to have at the entrance of your house as the scent will greet them.

  • Planted basket: A delicate selection of choice plants. This can be a lovely gift as your local florist will be happy to make them up to suit the particular likes of the client. This can give your planted gift basket the personal touch, with the addition of pretty windmills to catch the breeze or little coloured butterflies.

  • Buxus Topiary: I love these as a gift for someone at a work. Very low maintenance but very striking. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Can be trimmed into different shapes, from pyramids to ball topiaries to animal shapes, which are great for the kids. Pyramid shapes give a more sophisticated look to any work entrance or to your own home. At home in Stamullen I would not be without them at my front door.

  • Strawberry Hanging Basket: This has to be my favourite plant gift. If you are invited over for dinner to a summer barbeque, why not bring a planted gift and desert in one ? A hanging basket full of delicious strawberries. It doesn’t get better than that. It might be a good idea to bring along a little bit of cream !
