Group of Koi
The weekend of Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August will see something fishy going on down at Greenmount Campus CAFRE, Antrim. The Northern Ireland Koi Society will be hosting their annual show at the campus. This provides a great opportunity for the public to get up close and personal with these great fish and the society’s members will be on hand to answer your pond and fish related questions. Friends of Bonsai will also be staging a display of trees and will be carrying out practical workshops throughout the weekend to demonstrate the finer points of Bonsai culture. It is something anyone can try.
Bonsai
These events will be taking place in the beautiful surroundings of the Richardsons Walled Garden so visitors will have the opportunity to visit one of Ireland’s premier walled gardens at the height of the growing season. The adjoining DARD Rose Garden will be at its best at this time. It contains some 1,300 bushes with over 50 varieties and it is well worth a look so why not bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful blooms.
Horticultural staff will be on hand to answer gardening questions or advise on horticultural courses at Greenmount.
Individual Koi
Admission to the gardens is £5 per car. The opening times are 10:30am – 5pm on Saturday 4 August and 1:00pm – 6pm on Sunday 5 August (with last admission one hour before close).
