Bringing the Outdoors In

Interior design trends can come and go but one that seems to be sticking around over the past couple of years and even gaining momentum is “bringing the outdoors in”. This trend can be taken quite literally and basically conveys the idea of merging both indoor and outdoor spaces so that effectively they appear as one large connected space.

There are a few ways of doing this

Indoor/ Outdoor Patio Furniture

If you can , the furniture indoors should compliment your patio furniture, This why indoor outdoor furniture has become so popular. The use of rattan furniture indoors also give the feel and look of nature indoors. Leisuregrow range of rattan furniture has be designed to create a timeless look both indoors and outdoors.

Try not to block the view outside. Open the blinds and shutters. If possible always open your windows creating movement of air through out your room.

Mirror the colours and textures
Try to mimic the Colours of your garden indoors.

The Summer breeze Tablecloth range will compliment any summer Garden. Stripes of Summer Green, Blues and Yellow. Continue outdoors with Scatter cushions of the same range on your patio furniture.

If you have a wall out side your window you can use this to your advantage. Paint the wall a light colour of purples or blues ( there is enough grey in our lives) . Place outdoor art , Wall pots or outdoor mirrors on it, it is now a feature wall outdoors. Complete the look with a Classic rocking chair or Bench with vibrant and functional Cushions and Throws.

Houseplants and Pots

Bring Nature Indoors with houseplants and colorful pots. A cluster of bright indoor Pots with house plants varying in size and shape will create movement indoors. If possible an indoor hanging basket of ferns or ivy should be considered. If possible take some cut flowers from your garden a place in a vase or jug

Carry the Colour through
Carry the colour through with vibrant colours in pots and baskets just outside on your patio. Once beyond this point you can contrast and have fun with all colour and fragrance.

Use of Natural material Indoors,
We talked earlier of the use of rattan furniture indoors to give the feel and look of wicker furniture, Also the use of slate mirror are great. Reflect light around the room with mirrors while bringing another textured piece to the room. A well placed textured rug or mat at the door can merge the the outdoors to the indoors. There are great ranges of washable rugs now that are very durable and colourful.

Fragrance of Nature
The use of Summer fragrant diffusers is a must. Persian Rose or White pomegranate from Max benjamin create relaxing and romantic fragrances throughout.
