Chelsea Florist of the Year, Jennifer Murphy Showcases at The Singapore Garden Festival 2014

Irish Florist, Jennifer Murphy of Flowers by Moira (based in Dunshaughlin Co. Meath) has been personally invited to attend and showcase her skills at The Singapore Garden Festival 2014 (16th-24th August at Gardens by the Bay). Jenny will join award-winning designers from around the world to compete in Asia’s top tropical garden and flower show — the Singapore Garden Festival. The Festival was the first ever garden and floral show to bring together international award-winning designers from all over the world to compete under one roof, and is highly regarded in the industry, as all invited garden and floral designers must have received at least one top accolade in the recent two to three years.

Not only was Jennifer the first Irish entrant to be accepted to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2012, but was the first Irish entrant to win the coveted title of ‘RHS Chelsea Florist of the year’ (2012). She was also awarded the ‘RHS Chelsea Gold Medal’ in her category the same year for her stunning floral chandelier creation.

Due to her remarkable achievements and continued meteoric rise in the floristry world, Jenny has been invited to showcase at The Singapore Garden Festival 2014 – the bi annual tropical garden and flower show which attracts thousands of visitors and the best florists and gardeners in the world – www.singaporegardenfestival.com. Amongst other award winning gardening and floristry luminaries, Jenny’s display titled “Turning Darkness to Light” will be showcased for show-goers to admire amongst an enchanting display of beautiful flowers, created by celebrated floral designers from Singapore and beyond.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be able to showcase my skills at such a world renowned show. As the first Irish florist in my section – Floral Windows to the World – I feel a great sense of pride to be exhibiting with some of the best in the world. The concept I have come up with will, I hope, be uniquely Irish in design and will echo the pride I feel at representing Ireland on the world-stage” said Jenny Murphy.

Jenny has spent months researching and designing her piece ‘”Turning Darkness to Light” which takes it’s inspiration from Irish Celtic design, heritage & culture from the Royal County of Meath. Created with Irish willow grown near Newgrange (Co. Meath), ‘”Turning Darkness to Light” showcases Jenny’s new found passion for willow work and her signature use of intricate wire-work. All of the fresh flowers Jenny will use for her piece will be sourced from the local Singapore flower markets with Jenny looking to make use of a host of varieties in golden hues to depict the ‘Light’ in her display, Given a stage space of 30 square meters to work with, each designer was presented a blank canvas and no brief or schedule to adhere to, “Turning Darkness to Light” promises to deliver on creativity and Jenny’s natural flair for all things floral.

Jenny’s win at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show adds to her already impressive list of credentials.Jenny was the winner of Irish Interflora Florist of the Year 2011 and winner of Irish Interflora Florist of the Future 2009.
