Fabric of Life: BT’s Florals to Put a Spring in Your Step – Fashion

GREEN-fingered gardeners may be battling the frost, but spring has sprung in the fashion world with a pretty floral story to lift the soul on a cold January day. Brown Thomas revealed a Secret Garden on the first floor of their Grafton Street store, where fashion director Shelly Corkery rolled out the key international trends that will drive our wardrobe choices over the coming months.

Darling buds of spring flourished beside blousy, washed-out roses in old-fashioned yet girly tea dresses and pretty, full-skirted summer dresses.

The real vibrant blooms came from Kenzo, a new name to the Brown Thomas fashion rollcall this year.

Florals can be colour-blocked like Christian Dior did on the catwalks with flouncy hostess skirts worn under plain black tees, or you can play the horticultural story a la Stella McCartney with a floral blazer, a shirt and trousers with a zing of colour courtesy of a stripe down the side.

Also new to the store is Marni Edition from Consuela Castiglioni. Then there’s a whiff of delicious ’60s nostalgia from the keenly awaited Saint Laurent Paris collection, and Irishman JW Anderson comes into the fold after a hugely successful pop-up shop.

Dolce & Gabbana delivered their own brand of magic: a black and green lily print dress stole hearts with its €1,350 price tag.
