Forest Service Irish Forestry Awards – RDS

The Irish Forestry Awards recognise and reward farmers and woodland owners who are employing the principles of Climate-Smart Agriculture on their properties including: sound commercial management, environmental protection and bio diversity.

The twin goals of promoting the economic and environmental benefits of good forestry and farming are key to what the RDS hopes to achieve through our agriculture and rural affairs programme. Highlighting excellent Irish farmers and communicating what they are able to accomplish through the application of best practice and innovative management techniques continues an RDS tradition that stretches back to the foundation of the Society in 1731.

With a prize fund of €10,000, everyone with woodlands is encouraged to enter the Awards as all woodlands, large or small, are of merit.

Award categories:
1. Production Forestry
2. Multipurpose Forestry
3. Community Woodlands

As well as the three main Awards, a Judges’ Special Award is made every year at the discretion of the judging panel in recognition of outstanding achievement.

Application forms are available on the Award category webpages or via email from forestry@rds.ie. Closing date for entries is June 12, 2015.
