Ireland Enters 2012 Edition of the Communities in Bloom International Challenge

Communities in Bloom will organize the 2012 Edition fo the Communities in Bloom International Challenge. The International Challenge involves winners from different National Programs (Communities in Bloom, Britain in Bloom, America in Bloom, Tidy Towns of Ireland, Japan in Bloom, Entente Florale and others) competing with each other based on population categories. Invitations are alslo sent to communities from countries without National Programs.

The International Challenge consists of communities receiving information and being evaluated by an international jury on the accomplishements of their entire community (municipal, private, corporate and institutional sectors, citizens) on eight key criteria: tidiness, environmental awareness, community involvement, natural and cultural heritage conservation, urban foresty, landscaped areas, floral displays, and turf & groundcovers.

The evaluation takes place in July and August. The 2012 National Symposium and Awards Ceremonies, hosted by the Edmonton Capital Region will be held October 10 to 13, 2012 in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada).
