ITB Horticulture News Update – Ciarnad Ryan

We are hoping to move in to our new facility shortly and builders are final snagging at the moment. It looks fantastic. We have an amazing range of fourth year research projects reaching their final stages this month. Our local radio station Phoenix FM gave a free media training session to all of the class and will be interviewing each student on air about their work in the coming weeks.

We are developing a school orchard with our local school St Patrick’s in Corduff. Second year students are going to run a series of workshops with local kids there on GIY. We are donating a range of heritage apple trees propagated by ITB students with Eamon Kealy. There are also various design and planting projects ongoing on campus for the coming Spring.

We are also developing our own ITB Horticulture website that will be ready by the end of the semester to showcase our activities and give a little more insight to potential students, of the range of interesting and practical modules delivered here.

First and second year students are getting ready to go out on placement this summer so it’s very busy, but good busy.
