Unpredictable weather is keeping horticulturists busy in preparation for the opening of the world famous Chelsea Flower Show.
According to TreeHugger.com, many designers have had to rethink their gardens because some flowers are blooming as much as three weeks ahead of schedule.
“The really cold winter in December stimulated a lot of trees, shrubs and bulbs, and then the weather turned mild from January onwards started incredible growth, especially in wisteria, flowering cherries, rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias and fruit trees,” an RHS staffer told the website.
Instead of spring flowers such as tulips and peonies that many are used to seeing at the show, experts say that visitors may see blossoms that traditionally bloom later in the season such as salvias and roses instead.
According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the organization that runs the annual show, tickets for the event, which runs from May 24 through May 28, are already sold out.
