Real Life Christmas Display for Flower Shop

An Interflora flower shop in the Scottish Highlands has received an unlikely lodger for the winter. The Flower Box in Grantown-on-Spey is now home to a friendly Robin, known as Batman, much to the delight of owner Maria Norman.

He used to pop into the shop for daily visits but has since decided to take up residence for the months ahead, nesting atop a Christmas tree.

“Batman started following me into the shop every morning. He’d come in and out until he left in the afternoon,” said Ms Norman.

“Then one day, he wouldn’t leave. And by that time, he had become quite an attraction. I think all the trees, holly and flowers make him feel at home – and it’s lovely and warm on the cold nights.”

Batman is currently nesting in a Christmas tree, although he takes time out of his daily schedule to sing to customers as they walk around the shop.

“He has everything he needs here – a bath and food. We’re even putting meal worms in our planters so he can dig them up,” added Ms Norman.

“We don’t want him to go, although we realise that one day he’ll return to the wild. But as long as he stays, we’ll continue to enjoy our own real life Christmas display.”
