Twenty Rubbish Bags And Eight Trolleys Plucked From River

VOLUNTEERS GATHERED up to 20 bags of rubbish and retrieved eight shopping trolleys from the River Barrow on Saturday when they focused their attentions on cleaning up the Three Sisters Marina.

The voluntary community cleanup, a coordinated effort between the Tidy Towns, New Ross Town Council, local Community Employment Scheme employees and local volunteers with the help of the River Rescue spent Saturday morning cleaning up the Marina, which is currently trying to obtain Green Flag status.

On the water members of New Ross River Rescue retrieved eight shopping trolleys, while the volunteers on the land picked up somewhere between 15 to 20 bags of rubbish.

This clean-up aims to improve the performance of New Ross in this year’s IBAL and Tidy Towns Competitions.

Another combined community effort will be made as volunteers are invited to assist in the collection of litter around New Ross. For further details contact Ray on 086 3642592.

The plan is to hold monthly clean ups in a bid to build on and add to the work that is already being done by New Ross Town Council staff, Wexford County Council road workers, the New Ross Tidy Towns voluntary group and the Rosbercon Parish and New Ross Town Council FAS CE Schemes.

If you would prefer to concentrate on your own area or the grounds of and outside of your business or organisation, contact the local New Ross Tidy Towns Committee (086 3642592) who will try to assist in whatever way they can.
