A man biking in Dublin forests

If you’re visiting Ballyedmonduff forest over the next few weeks, look out for Phase 1 of our forest transformation.

Works are beginning on the Dublin Mountains Makeover – a forest transformation project that’s putting people and nature first in the nine most popular Dublin Mountains forests.

Over the next few weeks, harvesting machines will be working to thin out a mature Sitka spruce forest in Ballyedmonduff and manage it under Continuous Cover Forestry principles. First, though, we need to remove trees along the roadside so that machines and timber lorries can access the site safely – and that’s what’s happening at the moment.

What can I expect to see?

On weekdays between now and June 19th, you can expect to see a machine clearing trees along the side of the path on the Dublin Mountains Way at Ballyedmonduff and near the  Blazing Saddles section of MTB Trail (see map below).

Please abide by safety signage and the traffic management measures in place.
