Slow Food are doing incredibly important work globally, preserving local food traditions and trying to counteract the Fast Food and fast living culture.  They have over 100,000 members in 132 countries.  Terra Madre brought together over 8000 food communities, chefs, academics and musicians from around the world to brainstorm ways to promote local, sustainable food production that is “good, clean and fair”.

Alongside up to 100 workshops and talks (covering everything from biodynamics, eating less meat, bees, GMO, and fisheries), individual country delegations from around the world got together to discuss promoting Slow Food back home.    The Irish delegation heard contributions from Minister of State Ciaran Cuffe, Taste Council Chairman Evan Doyle, head of Bord Bia Aidan Cotter and of course GIY.
