To mark Earth Day, Dublin Zoo is hosting a brand new event called ‘GreenFest’ on Saturday 23 April  and Sunday 24 April 2016.

‘GreenFest’ will see Dublin Zoo and a selection of Irish organisations join forces for a weekend of discovery and learning where visitors can learn more about the planet we live on, sustainability and native species.

There will be an abundance of themed activities and workshops taking place over the weekend, from science demonstrations on composting and decomposing, to how to create a wind turbine – this interactive event has something for all ages!

There will also be lots of special talks on topics such as learning more about native species, to where our food comes from and how to grow organic food at home.

Younger visitors will be able to enjoy the earth-friendly arts and crafts, fun quizzes, plus the chance to experience sea life at the mini-aquarium.

Organisations that will be present over the weekend include: The Irish Wildlife Trust, Birdwatch Ireland, The National Museum of Ireland, The National Dairy Council, Bord Bia and Galway Atlantaquaria.

This event celebrates the richness of Ireland’s native wildlife and highlights the ways in which we can play a role in its conservation.

  • 10am – 5pm on Saturday 23rd
  • 11am – 4pm on Sunday 24th
