As I Live and Breathe – Brian Burke

This medium show garden demonstrates how an outdoor space becomes an extension of a house and can enhance the feeling of home.

The design features an intersecting path which leads from an opening on both viewing sides to two large, covered spaces that are built against the back perimeter walls. The configuration of the path creates four large beds which are planted with flowering perennials and perennial grasses such as salvia, calamagrostis, and agapanthus. The inside corner is anchored with a specimen native tree.

The covered spaces are connected with a narrow bridge of the same timber material as used in the floor. They provide a space to relax, view, and absorb the entirety of the garden.
