New Cycling and Walking Schemes in Derry Welcomed

The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) has welcomed the opening of new cycle and walking schemes in Londonderry by the Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy MLA. West Tyrone MLA Ross Hussey said: “The announcement of a total of over £600,000 of investment in cycle and walking schemes for Londonderry will be warmly welcomed by all those in the City and surrounding areas who wish to avail of walking and cycling opportunities.”

The Bay Road – Boomhall Greenway project involved the construction of a 600 metre extension to the riverside greenway including upgrades to shore paths and an off road connection.

Mr Hussey continued: “Its completion is a major boost and the announcement that work is to start almost immediately on the Lowry’s Lane project which will deliver 445 metres of traffic free greenways and be completed by mid-December is also great news.”
